Methyl cellulose
Introduction of methyl cellulose (MC)
One. Molecular composition and structural Formula:
Two. Technical requirements:
The project name | Index (55 series) |
methoxy | 28.0-32.0% |
The moisture | ≤5% |
Viscosity (2%,20°C aqueous solution)map·s | 5-100000 |
ash | ≤1% |
Gel temperature | 52-67°C |
Three. Physical and chemical properties:
1. Appearance: MC is white or white like fibrous or granular powder, odorless.
Properties: MC is almost insoluble in absolute ethanol, ether and acetone. It is rapidly dispersed and swollen in hot water of 80~90>℃, and rapidly dissolved after cooling. The aqueous solution is quite stable at room temperature, and can gel at high temperature, and the gel can change with the solution with the temperature. It has excellent wettability, dispersion, adhesion, thickening, emulsification, water retention and film formation, as well as oil impermeability. The film has excellent toughness, flexibility and transparency. Because of its non-ionic type, it can be compatible with other emulsifiers, but it is easy to salt-out, and the solution is stable in the range of PH2-12.
3. Visual density: 0.30-0.70g/cm3, density about 1.3g/cm3.
Four. Solution method:
When the product is added directly to water, it condenses and then dissolves, which is slow and difficult. The following three dissolving methods are recommended. Users can choose the more convenient method according to the use situation:
1. Hot water method: Since MC is not dissolved in hot water, MC can be evenly dispersed in hot water at the beginning, and then when cooled, two typical methods are described as follows:
1). Put the required amount of hot water into the container and heat it to about 70℃. Gradually add MC under slow stirring, start MC floating on the surface of the water, and then gradually form a slurry, and cool the slurry under stirring.
2). Add 1/3 or 2/3 of the required amount of water into the container and heat it to 70℃. Disperse MC according to the method of 1) to prepare hot water slurry; Then add the remaining amount of cold or ice water to the hot slurry, stir and cool the mixture.
Powder mixing method: MC powder particles and an equal or greater quantity of other powdery ingredients are thoroughly dispersed by dry mixing, and then dissolved by adding water. At this time, MC can be dissolved without condensation.
3. Organic solvent wetting method: MC is dispersed or moistened in advance with organic solvent, such as ethanol, ethylene glycol or oil, and then dissolved in water, then MC can be dissolved smoothly.
Five. Use:
This PRODUCT IS WIDELY USED IN BUILDING construction, BUILDING materials, DISPERSIVE COATINGS, wallpaper paste, polymerization additives, in addition to paint, leather, ink, paper, etc., respectively used as thickener, adhesive, water retention agent, film forming agent, EXcipient and so on. For example, it is used as a binder, thickener and water-retaining agent in building materials, as a film forming agent and thickener in the coating industry, and it is also widely used in the fields of petroleum drilling and daily chemical industry.
